ITINERARY
DAY 01: ARRIVE IN PORTO
Arrive in Porto. Upon arrival at Porto airport, you will be transferred to the hotel. During the afternoon, you can visit the city on a regular tour (half-day). Major sights include Aliados Avenue, city hall, Bolhão market, Batalha Square, Santa Catarina Street, Majestic Café, São Bento Train Station, Cathedral, Porto Wine Cellar (visit and tasting), Clérigos Tower, and House of Music Concert Hall.

DAY 02: PORTO – REGUA – PINHAO – VILA REAL – PORTO
After breakfast, in the morning, you will departure to the region of Douro on a regular tour (full day). When the coastal area ends, Amarante appears divided by the Tâmega River, but connected by the bridge, which bears the same name as the temple located next to it, on one of the riverbanks. Visit the Church of St. Gonçalo and Amarante historical centre. Protected from the humid winds of the Atlantic by the Marão and Montemuro Mountains, you will arrive to the Douro Valley and tribute is paid to the combined work of men and nature, depicting the universal value of the active role of a landscape of excellence. The Alto Douro Vinhateiro (Douro Wine Region) is classified as World Heritage by UNESCO since 2001. It is a place where the magic of the landscape highlights the terraces that grow the famous and cherished Port Wine, in the most ancient and beautiful demarcated wine region of the world. Visit the Port Wine Estate in Regua. Also visit Pinhão train station and historical centre of Vila Real. At the end of the day, return to Porto. (BL)

DAY 03: PORTO – LISBON
After breakfast, in the morning, you will depart to Lisbon by train. You will be transferred from your hotel to Porto train station (Campanha). Arrive in Lisbon and you will be transferred to your hotel. In the afternoon, you can discover Lisbon on a regular tour (half day). First of all, you will visit the Belém quarter where you will find the most beautiful and historical monuments from the 15th and 16th centuries. A brief stop at the Belém Tower (Torre de Belém), World Heritage by UNESCO, point of departure of some of the Portuguese maritime explorations; and on the Monument to the Discoveries (Padrão dos Descobrimentos), built to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the death of Prince Henry the Navigator. Then, you visit the church of St. Jerome Monastery (Mosteiro dos Jerónimos) World Heritage by UNESCO, a masterpiece of the “Manueline” style and the National Coach Museum (Museu Nacional dos Coches) with one of the most important collection of old carriages in the world. Along the river you arrive at Alfama, an old and traditional district, where you will have the opportunity to walk in its narrow streets, and visit a handicraft shop where you’ll taste an aperitif of Port wine. Then, you will pass by the downtown (Baixa) to admire the most important squares of Lisbon such as the monumental Trade Square (Praça do Comércio); Rossio Square, the heart of Lisbon and the symbolic Restauradores Square. Then you drive along the Liberdade Avenue, the “boulevard” of Lisbon, to finish at Marquês de Pombal Square, admiring the statue of the 18th-century Portuguese statesman responsible for Lisbon reconstruction after one of the most deadly earthquakes in History, the 1755 Lisbon Earthquake. DAY 04: LISBON – SINTRA – CASCAIS – ESTORIL – LISBON
After breakfast, during the morning, you will departure to Sintra on a regular tour (full day). You will visit the palace of Sintra and walk through this charming village. Visit Pena Palace and village of Sintra. Enjoy the amazing view from the westernmost point of Europe (Cabo da Roca). Along the coast, you will pass by one of the most famous surfing beaches, Guincho beach, the incredible Boca do Inferno, the cosmopolitan Cascais and the gardens of Estoril Casino. Return to Lisbon. DAY 05: LISBON – OBIDOS – ALCOBACA – NAZARE – BATALHA – FATIMA – LISBON
After breakfast, during the morning, you will depart to Fátima on a regular tour (full day). Your first stop will be the town of Obidos, very popular among tourists. This beautiful village of white houses and rustic, surrounded by walls from the 14th century and its entrance is decorated with tiles of the 18th century. Inside the castle, makes you noted at the Pousada, which retains its medieval elements in the decor. The route through walls allows you to get an overview of the village. After leaving Obidos, you will continue your tour to Alcobaça, where you visit the church of the Monastery of Santa Maria. This church is the largest in the country and is known for its medieval architecture. It was founded in the 12th century and is linked to the arrival of the Cistercian Order in Portugal and the birth of the nation. This monument was also awarded World Heritage by UNESCO and buried here are Pedro and Inês de Castro. Your lunch break will be in the colorful fishing village of Nazareth, where you will enjoy its beautiful bay. You continue your tour with a trip to Batalha, where you will visit the church of the Dominican monastery of Santa Maria da Vitoria. This monastery, as Alcobaça, deserved the attention of UNESCO, classifying it as a World Heritage site, a masterpiece of Gothic architecture. Finally, you will visit the Sanctuary of Fatima, the altar instead of the Christian faith to worship and pilgrimage destination in the world. The Sanctuary is where you can see the stained glass windows depicting scenes of the apparitions. Also included are visits to the Holy Trinity Church and the Chapel of Apparitions that marks the spot where the Virgin appeared to the three seers of Fatima: Francisco, Jacinta and Lucia. At the end of the day, return to Lisbon. (B)

DAY 06: LISBON – ALBUFEIRA
After breakfast, in the morning, you will depart to Albufeira by train. You will be transferred from your hotel in Lisbon to Lisbon train station (Santa Apolónia). Arrive in Albufeira and you will be transferred to your hotel. Rest of the day is free at leisure. (B)
